Nairobi Kenya

Kenya is a country in Eastern Africa with a population of over 53 million people. Nearly 9 million of these people live in a state of extreme poverty. This means that they have less that 2 US dollars per day to live on. Nearly 8 million Kenyans do not have enough food to sustain themselves on a daily basis. Recent trends are encouraging and indicate that poverty rates are dropping in Kenya, but there is still much work to be done.

Poverty is much deeper than lack of material possessions. The roots of poverty run deep and wide, and are multifaceted. One thing I do know is there is deep spiritual poverty all over the world and a need for our Savior Jesus. We are so happy that since implementing Bible storying with our Kenya students in April, we have had 7 students and 1 parent come to know Jesus--an eternal change with ripple effects for their families and communities! #poverty #everygirlcounts
